20–30 minutes. One useful starting point.

Start with what you already have.

Start with the software you use, the information you have, and the tasks that slow you down. We’ll look for a useful improvement with what’s already there, then consider a connection or custom tool where it would help.

Get answers from your existing systems.

Help a receptionist check a work order, or an owner catch up on sales. Where your software allows it, a read-only integration can bring the right information into a simple conversation.

“What’s the status of this job?”

Give your team a consistent starting point.

Set up AI with your business’s voice, policies, and approved examples. Practice drafting customer replies in your voice, turning notes into next steps, and checking answers against their sources before using them.

“Help me reply using our returns policy.”

Learn from the information you already have.

Explore sales, recurring questions, or delays in your records. We check the data and calculations so you can distinguish a useful finding from a suggestion that needs more work.

“Where do our jobs keep getting held up?”

Build a tool that fits the way you work.

Create a focused tracker, connect a repeated task, or make an existing website easier to update. We can also improve custom software you own and have permission to change.

“I wish our software could do this one thing.”

An example we could build

An answer at the front desk.

A customer calls about a repair. The receptionist needs an update, but the details are in software used by the shop team.

A connected assistant could check the recorded status and return a clear answer, without changing the work order or interrupting the mechanic.

Receptionist asks

What’s the status of work order 1842?

Assistant checks the record

Work order 1842 is waiting for parts. The shop’s latest note says the replacement has been ordered. No completion date is recorded.

Built from work I do every day.

I’m Drew Downs, a designer and software builder in Madison, Alabama. I use AI in my own work and help others learn it. That sits alongside a professional design career that began in 2002.

Proposals, client review, deliveries, invoicing, and repeatable creative production. I use these systems to run the studio and deliver work.

These projects show working software and processes. We’ll choose where AI adds value for your business, and where a straightforward tool is enough.

Start small. Build confidence.

Learn to handle as much as you’re comfortable with. I can help you get started, work alongside your team, or stay involved when you need support.

  1. Talk through the task.

Start with a free 20–30-minute conversation. Show me what gets in the way, and I’ll share a relevant example.

  2. Agree on one useful improvement.

We’ll define a manageable piece of paid work, what you’ll receive, and the setup and software costs. For teams, we also agree on approved tools, access, and review steps.

  3. Use it, check it, make it yours.

Work through a real task together: write the instructions, check the result, and save an example your team can reuse. Learn how to spot problems and ask for help. We can build on it as your needs grow.

A few things you might be wondering.

AI agents, custom instructions, integrations, and automation can go a long way. The right setup starts with your people, your tools, and your needs.

Do we need to be technical?

No. Start with what you already have. I’ll help you choose useful tasks, give the AI better instructions, and learn what to check. You can manage as much as you’re comfortable with and ask for help when you need it.

What if we already use ChatGPT or Claude?

That’s a useful starting point. We can move beyond one-off prompts by adding business context, reusable instructions, and connections to your tools. AI agents can carry out a series of steps, with access and review suited to the task.

Can you work with our older software?

Often, but we need to look at the system first. An API, database connection, or export may give us a practical way in. Sometimes a small companion tool makes more sense. We’ll check what’s possible and what you’re allowed to change before agreeing on the work.

How do you handle access and mistakes?

We decide which information each person should see and enforce that through the system’s permissions. We also agree on what needs review, how to check the source, and when to stop and ask for help. Customer information only goes into AI services the business has approved.

What does it cost?

The first 20–30-minute conversation is free. After that, we agree on a focused piece of paid work. Some projects use software you already pay for; others need hosting, an AI subscription, or usage fees. We’ll discuss setup, running costs, and any follow-up support before you commit.

Can you train our team and stay involved?

Yes. We can work together on a real task, arrange a team session, or have me build the setup and walk you through it. Follow-up help is available by agreement. You don’t need an ongoing management plan to start.

What do you wish worked better?

Tell me about a task, a sticking point, or an idea. You don’t need to know the solution.

I’ll follow up by email so we can arrange a free 20–30-minute conversation and see whether there’s a useful next step.
